Director of Development and Community Relations

Envision Utah is looking for a new Director of Development and Community Relations to ensure we have strong relationships with community leaders and sufficient resources to carry out our mission.

The Director of Development and Community Relations is responsible for ensuring that the organization has a strong relationship with community leaders and sufficient resources to carry out its mission and projects. This includes primary responsibility for ensuring the organization maintains consistent communication and strong relationships with board members, funders, and key community stakeholders. The Director of Development and Community Relations also spearheads fundraising efforts. This responsibility includes the creation and execution of fundraising strategies and plans, preparation of proposals and reports, formation of relationships with funders and potential funders, tracking receivables, and researching foundations and grants. In addition, this individual is tasked with overseeing the planning and execution of the annual Corporate Friends Breakfast and Common Good Awards luncheon. In all these responsibilities, the Director of Development and Community Relations works closely with and reports to the CEO and COO and is assisted by the entire staff.

  • Strategic planning
  • Identifying potential funding sources
  • Planning and execution of fundraising events
  • Proposal and report preparation
  • Assisting senior management in maintaining relationships with funders, potential funders, and board members
  • Managing invoices and receivables
  • Preparing and achieving budgets for projected income
  • Setting and attending meetings with key stakeholders and funders
  • Managing regular emails and other communications with board members
  • Assisting other staff in maintaining relationships and communication with a variety of stakeholders
  • Other tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

The Director of Development and Community Relations position requires at least a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in a development or fundraising capacity. In addition, the position requires strong personal relationship, communication, and organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, highly adaptive environment.

Compensation

Full-time, exempt position. Salary range is $60,000–$80,000 depending on qualifications. Envision Utah offers a competitive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, holidays and paid time off, and a matching retirement contribution.

We tackle issues and projects that involve topics ranging from transportation and air quality to water and education. Our full-time staff fluctuates between 10 and 15 people.
